Fall 2021 Student News

Brian Bohman received his doctoral degree in August 2021.  His dissertation was entitled Investigating Nitrogen and Irrigation Management Strategies to Improve Agronomic and Environmental Outcomes for Potato Production.  Bohman was advised by David Mulla and Carl Rosen.

Lisa Deguire received her masters degree in August 2021.  Her thesis was entitled From Shipping to Swimming: Bacterial Monitoring and Diversity in Ballast Treatment Systems and Recreational WatersDeguire was advised by Randall Hicks and Chan Lan Chun.

Devin Edge received her masters degree in August 2021.  Her thesis was entitled Photodegradation of Natural Organic Matter in Plume Versus Non-plume Waters in Lake Superior.  Edge was advised by Elizabeth Austin-Minor.

Emily Fleissner received her masters degree in August 2021.  Her thesis was entitled Investigating the Changes in Fish Behavior in Response to Anthropogenic Sound.  Fleissner was advised by Allen Mensinger.

Jacob Fredrickson received his masters degree in July 2021.  His thesis was entitled Spatial and Temporal Variability During Radiatively-Driven Convection in Lake Superior. Fredrickson was advised by Jay Austin.

Mitchell Ihlang received his masters degree in August 2021.  His thesis was entitled Groundwater recharge in formerly glaciated terrain: Exploring the relationship between frost dynamics, precipitation, and snowmelt in a Northeastern Minnesota deranged drainage basin. Ihlang was advised by John Swenson and Salli Dymond.

Kaitlin Reinl received her doctoral degree in July 2021.  Her dissertation was entitled The intersection of climate change, watershed influence, and phytoplankton dynamics in Lake Superior.  Reinl was advised by  Robert Sterner.

Kirsten Rhude received her masters degree in August 2021.  Her thesis was entitled Food or Habitat: Drivers of Diporeia sediment preference on a Lake Superior transect.  Rhule was advised by Robert Sterner.
