Riparian Management Field Trip
Saturday, September 17th, 2016

The purpose of the symposium is to explore the current science behind the design, effectiveness, and implementation of riparian buffers. The symposium will provide a scientific foundation to inform training, rules, implementation, and research.

Audience: The primary audience is researchers and students, and staff from government and private organizations engaged in buffer-related activities. This includes engineers, agricultural advisors, and conservationists who influence buffer implementation and policy.

Field Trip Agenda

The field trip following the riparian buffer symposium will leave on Saturday Sept. 17, 8:30 AMfrom in front of BAE Hall on the St. Paul campus.  We'll visit a riparian buffer in farmland north of the Twin Cities near Rice Creek and look at two stream and wetland restoration projects nearby. The trip will end by noon and will be followed by an optional lunch meeting at a nearby microbrewery / restaurant in St. Paul. The trip is led by the Department of Bioproducts and Biosystems Engineering and the Society for Ecological Restoration-Midwest Great Lakes Chapter

Everyone is welcome to attend, you don't have to be a member of SER-MWGL. Please RSVP to lenh0010@umn.edu by Wednesday, September 14 if you plan to attend the field trip. Cost will be $8 to cover van rental.

Poster presentations related to the science and design of buffers are encouraged. Interested authors should complete this form to submit an abstract for a poster
